Real People Who Inspire Me

Every Monday I type up a post about some famous actor or director who is a source of inspiration for me.

Today I want to dedicate this post to people in my life who inspire me to move forward and be a better actor and person.

In no particular order:

Edna Dinwiddie. This girl is one of the hardest working people I know. When she wants something, she puts all of herself into reaching her goals. She is kind and considerate and puts others before herself without any want for recognition or accolades. I strive to have her ambition and kindness and am grateful to call her my friend.

Heather Nicholas. Best friends since college. She keeps it real. She was the first person to really push me and stand by me while we both struggled to do this whole "acting as a career," thing. She has not had it easy. Life continuously throws challenge after challenge at her and I see her overcome her obstacles with maturity and strength. There is fire in her spirit and this fire inspires me to never give up no matter what happens.

Zach Williams. Boyfriend extraordinaire and amazing actor. He is the most creative and compassionate person I know. But don't be fooled. He's no doormat. He'll call you on your bullshit and doesn't have time for fakeness. His candid, genuine personality overflows into his craft, giving all his characters a realness and believeableness that is captivating. He is loyal, and always has my back whenever I'm going through a tough time or having a bad day. He inspires me to always be myself and to support my fellow actors and friends.

Ali Foley. This girl is hands down the most joyful and optimistic person I've ever met. If Mother Theresa was a spunky 20-something actress, she would be Ali. I was able to spend almost 5 months with her, and in that time I never heard a single negative comment about anyone around us come out of her mouth. And her optimism is so genuine and contagious. She inspires me to always look on the bright side of things and to not let other's negativity get me down.

Jennifer Brunker. Amazing actress and badass. This girl is killing it. I met her when I was up in Pennsylvania and was immediately struck by her candid realistic approach to acting and the professional world of theatre. Her maturity and knowledge blew me away and made me want to know more about my craft on a professional level. She's also one of the funniest people I know, and her witty comments and banter got me through a lot of tough days at the faire. What you see is what you get with Jen and I am very very lucky to have her as a friend even though we are miles apart.

Eva Joy Angeline Fisher. High School Friend. Stunning Beauty. Amazing Actress. Although we don't stay in touch as much anymore, Angie has always been an inspiration for me both in acting and fashion. This girl is drop dead gorgeous and a phenomenal actress. I follow her on facebook and she keeps bouncing from acting gig to acting gig and it's inspiring to see someone making it! I know she will go far and I'm honored to say that I shared the stage with her back in our high school days.

Chad Hoy. Actor. Teacher. Friend. I first met Chad in college and he quickly became one of the coolest people in the world. His acting is so subtle, almost stoic, but his comedic timing is amazing. I admire his control and composure in every role he takes on, and I strive to be able to handle comedy the way he does. He's also a theatre teacher at Overton High School and I admire his relentless passion to share the wonders of theatre with his students. It's not an easy job and often thankless, but he does it everyday. His steadfastness is an inspiration to me.

There are so many others I could add to this list, and I will start making this my regular Tuesday blog post, so keep your eye out!
