Throwback Thursday: "Actor's Nightmare"

It was back in college when my love for theatre blossomed from just a hobby to a career path, and although I remember fondly (for the most part) all the productions I was a part of at that time, the student-directed one-acts will always hold a special place in my heart. Every year, members of the "Fundamentals of Directing" class would comb through scripts (a brave few writing their own), hold auditions, and direct, design, and produce a one-act play at the university.

"Actor's Nightmare," directed by Heather Nicholas, was my first one act, and god I loved it. I got to sit in a trashcan, eat pudding, wear a fur coat, and embarrassingly fumble through my first staged kiss (So sorry, Chad). Heather gave me a chance to explore styles of theatre I had never been exposed to before, and was a fabulous director. Later, we discovered our mutual love of Starbucks, singing in the car, and American Horror Story and became best friends.

College may have been one of the most stressful, wonderful experiences in my life to date, and sharing my passion for theatre with my classmates and castmates definitely made all the struggle worth it.

SIDE NOTE: I'm excited to announce that I'll be joining Chad Hoy (pictured top right) on the stage again in GCT's production of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" this coming March! Get ready folks! It's gonna be good.
